Nestled in a secluded valley in this beautiful and unspoilt part of the French Pyrenees, Le Gite Blanc is just the spot if you're looking for somewhere peaceful to unwind, as well as a base from which to explore the mountains, visit the shrine at Lourdes, or experience the vibrant city of Toulouse. This warm, comfortable holiday cottage is located between the bustling market town of Boulogne-sur-Gesse and its pretty neighbour, Castelnau-Magnoac, renowned for its history as the founding base for the French resistance in the second world war.

If you're after something different for your holiday, the owners of the farmhouse offer hands on heavy horse experience days with their French bred, English trained Percheron draft horse Nobel du Desir, and carriage driving taster sessions with their team of spotted ponies.

The gite offers two bedrooms, one double and one twin (with a double sofa bed in the living room for extra guests or children). It has a fully fitted kitchen for all your self-catering needs and a shower room and separate toilet. It sits in a large secure garden with its own private driveway.

If you want to read, paint or just relax, Le Gite Blanc provides the perfect environment. It is also an ideal base for more active pastimes and there are endless lanes and tracks to walk, run or cycle, nearby golf courses and horse riding centres and, for the very adventurous, a local airfield with flying lessons and parachute jumps! The mountains provide scope for more serious sport including hillwalking, trekking, white water rafting and, in the winter, dog-sledding, skiing and snowboarding.

For bird watchers the Ornithological Reserve at Puydarrieux is just 15 minutes drive away and has 200 recorded species for your spotter book! In the garden at Le Gite Blanc we regularly see Hoopoes, Black Redstarts and have Black Kites circling above.

If it's a cultural break you're after, then why not take in one of the many live concerts at St Gaudens, Tarbes or Toulouse and for sightseeing a must do is St Bertrand de Comminges, with its 12th century cathedral in one of the prettiest villages in France.

Well behaved pets are welcome - it's an ideal pace for dog-walking. Please note, the owners have two energetic and friendly Dalmatians.
